Unlike portable generators that require manual setup and refueling, a Kohler standby generator is permanently installed, connected to your natural gas or LP supply which means never having to refuel, and monitored 24/7 by Kohler's OnCue Plus system.

How It All Works
When choosing a generator, you will also choose an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). Before the power goes out, your automatic transfer switch monitors the electricity coming from the utility.
Because Kohler home generators start and stop automatically, the transfer system monitors the voltage coming from the utility not only when the power goes out, but also when the power drops below an acceptable level (brown out). The generator automatically starts, and the transfer switch shifts your power from the utility to the generator.

Your Kohler home generator supplies your home with electricity until the utility power is restored. When the utility power is restored, the transfer switch automatically transfers power back from the generator to the utility.
